Chiwetel Ejiofor in talks to voice Scar in The Lion King

August 3, 2017 by Ricky Church

Disney and Jon Favreau may have found its villainous Scar for The Lion King remake, with Doctor Strange’s Chiwetel Ejiofor in talks to voice the evil lion, according to The Wrap. Jeremy Irons voiced the role in the original animated film.

So far, the film’s cast includes Donald Glover (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Simba, Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street) as Timon, Seth Rogen (Sausage Party) as Pumba and John Oliver (Last Week Tonight) as Zazu. Meanwhile, Star Wars‘ James Earl Jones is also set to reprise his role as Mufasa from the original 1994 classic.

The Lion King is being directed by Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book) from a script by Jeff Nathanson (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) and is slated to hit cinemas on July 19th 2019.
