Chris Hemsworth almost played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine

May 29, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has revealed that he nearly played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Chris Hemsworth is, of course, enjoying a tremendously successful career, known mostly for his role as Thor in the MCU. But it wasn’t always this good for the actor and he nearly got the role as Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as well as a part in G.I. Joe.

Hemsworth told Variety that he is happy he didn’t get the parts, however, as it would have changed his career significantly: “I got very close to Gambit in the Wolverine X-Men movies. At the time I was upset. I was running out of money. But if I played either of those characters, I wouldn’t have been able to play Thor.”

Of course, it all worked out in the end for the actor but it’s interesting to think about what might have been. Fans of the MCU are surely happy that it worked out as it did.
