Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano to star in Get Shorty TV series

August 25, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) and Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond) are in final talks with Epix about joining its upcoming Get Shorty TV adaptation.

The 10-episode hourlong is described as a “reimagining” of Elmore Leonard’s 1990 novel, which was brought to the big screen in 1995, with Barry Sonnenfeld directing a cast that included John Travolta, Danny DeVito, Gene Hackman and Rene Russo.

The series “centers on Miles Daly (O’Dowd), who works as muscle for a murderous crime ring in Nevada. For the sake of his daughter, he attempts to change professions and become a movie producer, laundering money through a Hollywood film. But instead of leaving the criminal world behind, he accidentally brings it with him to Los Angeles. Romano would play Rick, a washed up producer of low quality films who becomes Miles’ partner and guide through the maze of Hollywood.”
