Chucky to slash again in Child’s Play 7?

December 3, 2013 by admin

In a sea of horror remakes and reboots, it was a change of pace to see Don Mancini carry on his Child’s Play series in the direct-to-DVD sixth entry Curse of Chucky. The reaction to the film was very positive from fans and critics (read Luke Owen’s ★★★★ review here and Thomas Harris’ ★★★ review here) and was one of the more well-received movies at this year’s FrightFest.

For those of you who haven’t seen the film yet, you may want to skip the next paragraph (and tweet) as it does contain spoilers for Curse of Chucky…

The end of Curse of Chucky revealed that Nica (Fiona Dourif) had been sent to prison for the murder of her family and Chucky had managed to track down her niece Alice (Summer H. Howell) to finally transfer his soul into a human being. However the film ends on a cliffhanger as the camera pans away, never showing us if he succeeded or not. Did he finally get out of the doll form that has haunted him for the last 15 years? Well, according to Mancini’s Twitter, we might just find out:

However, those who stayed until after the credits have rolled on Curse of Chucky will also know that the former Charles Lee Ray had a showdown with Child’s Play survivor Andy Barkley. Was that just an Easter Egg, or will it play into Child’s Play 7?

No word yet on whether this will be a theatrical release, or another straight-to-DVD.

Curse of Chucky is available on Blu-Ray, DVD and VOD.
