Classic Atari Lynx games coming to Nintendo Switch with The Epyx Collection Handheld

April 18, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Pixel Games UK has announced that they will be releasing The Epyx Collection Handheld on 25th April for the Nintendo Switch.  Developed by Imagine Software, this collection brings six classic Atari Lynx games that are sure to tickle folk’s nostalgia bones.

The Epyx Collection Handheld is the fourth collection of games released for the Nintendo Switch and follows Chip’s Challenge, The Monty Mole Collection and Hidden – a collection of classic games from the Commodore 64.  This latest collection includes:

Zarlor Mercenary (1990) – Become a intergalactic mercenary and defend the galaxy from a relentless horde of aliens in this arcade shooter. Take on waves of enemies using a customisable ship and a wealth of weaponry and use skill and cunning to defeat intense bosses.

California Games (1989) – This classic offered players the chance to take part in a series of laid-back, sun-kissed sports, such as surfing, skateboarding, BMX biking, roller skating, frisbee and more.

Gates of Zendocon (1989) – Journey through alien worlds and face formidable enemies controlled by the evil Zendocon. Use a variety of powerful weapons and upgrades to defeat hostile enemies and the deadly bosses that guard the gates to the Zendocon empire. This space-faring adventure will test player’s skills.

ElectroCop (1989) – Step into the shoes of a cybernetic police officer and restore law and order to the crime-ridden city.  Use advanced weaponry and gadgets to battle ruthless criminals in hazardous environments and bring the bad guys to justice.

Todd’s Adventures in Slime World (1990) – In this platforming adventure, players will join Todd on an adventure through Slime World (no surprise there) and use different weapons and equipment to fight off the hostile slimes, solve cunningly designed puzzles and uncover the numerous secrets that hide in this mysterious world.

Blue Lightning (1989) – Enjoy fast-paced action in the cockpit of an advanced fighter jet and take to the skies in aerial combat across a variety of landscapes.  Take on increasingly challenging missions and unleash devastating firepower upon the enemy.

The Epyx Collection Handheld provides 4 save and restore points for each game, a live rewind feature and a 80’s style CRT filter. There is also an interactive 3D rendered box art and cartridges for each game and a fully remastered version of each game’s instruction manual.

Players will be able to purchase The Epyx Collection Handheld from the Nintendo eShop on 25th April, priced £11.99 / $11.99 / €13.99.
