Fox has announced that Clayne Crawford (Rectify) has joined its Lethal Weapon TV pilot in the role of Martin Riggs, played by Mel Gibson in the four feature films. Crawford joins a cast that also includes Damon Wayans (My Wife and Kids) as Roger Murtaugh, Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious) as LAPD hostage negotiator and therapist Dr. Maureen ‘Mo’ Cahill and Kevin Rahm (Mad Men) as LAPD Captain Avery.
The pilot will follow a similar path to the first movie and sees Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Riggs moving to Los Angeles to start anew after the death of his wife and child, where he’s partnered with Murtaugh, who having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid stress in his life.
The Lethal Weapon pilot has been written by Matt Miller, while McG is handling directing duties.
