Underward trailer teases co-op survival horror

February 1, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Japanese developer Intense Co. Ltd. has announced that their co-op horror exploration survival game, Underward, will launch on Steam for PC on 5th February.  Players will be able to jump into a terrifying and comedic world with up to 3 friends and retrieve test subjects while avoiding death.  Watch the trailer below for a glimpse at the horror that awaits…

In this cooperative exploration horror players take the role of investigators tasked with retrieving a variety of test subjects sealed in bio-capsules that must be transported to the waiting lifts.  Enough capsules need to be retrieved to reach corporate targets.  It all sounds easy enough and horror free until you realise that these test subjects are located in an abandoned underground hospital filled with a variety of lurking dangers, including the formidable Arachne Nurse monster.

The Arachne Nurse is a towering creature with a body large enough to block a hallway and limbs that are fortified with salvaged debris that makes her resistant to attacks from the front.  To beat her, players will need to work together to flank her and strike from behind.

Featuring:

  • 1-4 player co-op horror exploration.
  • Proximity voice chat allowing players to chat using in-game distance.
  • A deadly threat that becomes more active as time passes.
  • Bio-capsules containing experimental creatures.
  • Exchange retrieval rewards for random items.
  • Collect useful items and take them to the next level for continued use.
  • Permadeath!

Underward will arrive on Steam for PC on 5th February.
