Colin Farrell discusses the Warcraft movie

November 17, 2013 by admin

After a flurry of casting rumours last month, things have fallen pretty quiet on director Duncan Jones’ (Moon, Source Code) upcoming Warcraft movie. So far, we know that Vikings star Travis Fimmel has secured one of the four lead roles, while a deal is said to be on the table for Colin Farrell (Total Recall) to fill one of the other spots, and Farrell has briefly spoken about the video game adaptation during an interview with IGN to promote his latest movie Saving Mr. Banks.

“Warcraft? Don’t know what’s happening, man. I read the script, if that’s any use to you, and it’s amazing. Duncan was cool. I sat with Duncan for a while and read the script, loved the script, and we was as cool as can be. I don’t know what’s happening with the film. I don’t know where they are in the process. The script was just really, really cool, and it’s just a world that I never explored — and it’s a really big and fantastical world. I can’t imagine what he, being as visually gifted as he is, Duncan, and what he did on Moon with, like, a dime, I can’t imagine what he’d do with this Warcraft.”

So, at this point it seems that Farrell is yet to finalise a deal to appear in the film, which also has Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness), Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, Prisoners), Anson Mount (Straw Dogs) and Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) linked to roles. With filming set to go into production in January ahead of its release on December 18th 2015 (the same day as Star Wars: Episode VII), expect some official casting news in the very near future.
