Comedian Chris Rock to host 2016 Oscars ceremony

October 21, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Stand-up comedian and actor Chris Rock (Top Five) is set to host the Oscars for the second time in 2016, the Academy has officially announced.

Rock, who previously hosted the awards ceremony in 2005, will follow Neil Patrick Harris’ divisive gig as host this year, which was met with a 16% ratings slump for the telecast.

In the decade since Rock’s previous gig as Oscars host, only two performers have hosted the ceremony twice – Ellen DeGeneres, in 2007 and 2014, and Jon Stewart, in 2006 and 2008.
