Robb Ghag reviews Batman Black and White #3…
“It’s another spectacular selection of adventures by some of comics’ top talents, with tales of The Dark Knight by Lee Bermejo, Marv Wolfman and Riccardo Burchielli, Rian Hughes, Damion Scott, and Paul Dini and Stephane Roux.”
One of the best parts of the Batman Black and White series coming back is the fact it has such a diverse pedigree of talent. Both writers and artists seem to portray their best work for the series, and quite frankly: why not? You’re creating a singular story for the greatest iconic hero of the DC Universe.
Starting with Otto Moss, the cover is simple but definitely unique in its portrayal of the larger then life, Dark Knight and the Umbrella wielding Penguin.
The Stories range inside from the gritty and tense: Rule Number One written and drawn by Lee Bermejo, to the psychologically disturbing and unfortunately utterly confusing, Namtab: Babel Comes to Gotham.
Damion Scott does an epic job with his hip-hop art styling in the story Hall of Mirrors. His story definitely stands out in this issue. Given the fact that each story is only approximately 8 pages, so much is filled in this story; it works so well with the illustrations.
Finally what series of Batman: Black and White would be complete without a story from Paul Dini, the epitome writer of Batman: The Animated Series, and creator of Harley Quinn. With upcoming stories from Michael and Lee Allred, Sean Galloway, Dustin Nguyen and Ruben Pellejero I think the upcoming issue of Batman Black and White will continue to entertain and inspire.
