The finale of Dexter may have come and gone, but we are not without some form of Dark Passenger in our lives. Issue #4 of Jeff Lindsay’s Dexter continues as one of Deb’s main murder suspects turns up dead himself.
The cover again is fantastic, and Michael Del Mundo is consistently knocking these out of the park! We continue following Dex and Deb trying to follow the threads which slowly begin to untangle and point towards Steve Gonzalez, Dexter’s high school nemesis. Lindsay does his best to add depth to all characters, but for some reason they don’t resonate as well as they did on the television show. The characters seem too one dimensional, even for a comic book.
Dalibor Talajic’s artwork inside continues to add another layer here and keep the reader turning the page. It’s probably one of the best parts of the book, apart from the covers!
This issue sets up the conclusion of this mini-series as you would suspect, and to be honest I am hoping the finale is gripping. At the time of writing this I have not seen the series conclusion of the Dexter TV series, but have heard some ‘unfavourable’ things. It’d be nice if one Dexter finale delivered the goods.
