Bloober Team has released the first full gameplay trailer for their upcoming survival horror Cronos: The New Dawn. This new trailer provides an eerie first look at the game’s THE MERGE mechanic, a new mechanic that changes the way that players face enemies in combat. Watch this new trailer below….
Cronos: The New Dawn takes players through two time periods – a post-apocalyptic future in ruins and 1980’s Poland. Starting in the decaying district of New Dawn (a city inspired on Poland’s Nowa Huta), players take on the role of a Traveller, an agent working for a mysterious collective of a dystopian future. Travellers are responsible for travelling back in time and extracting key people before they are killed in the rapidly approaching apocalypse. The only obstacle to this task are the grotesque and twisted horrors known as the Orphans.
As can be seen in the new trailer, downed enemies don’t stay down for long. Should players not burn their downed bodies it is possible for them to be absorbed by existing enemies through the process of Merging. This process helps enemies evolve into faster, deadlier and more horrifying creatures that have additional abilities in combat.
The trailer also provides a sneak peek at the games weaponry and enemies, all set to a backdrop of ruined brutalist architecture that has been twisted by the anomalies that warp reality. Viewers will also catch glimpses of enigmatic characters, all of which have their own agendas and secrets awaiting discovery.
Cronos: The New Dawn will be releasing later this year for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
