Students at Universitat Politècnica de Cataluny have announced the release of their cyberpunk beat ‘em up Malita – Soul of a Warrior on itch.io. Inspired by the universe of Alita: Battle Angel, Malita – Soul of a Warrior will provide players with fast-paced beat ’em up action for FREE. A new trailer can be seen below showing the gameplay.
Players take the role of the titular Malita, a cyborg hunter warrior who sets out on a journey to fight the mercenaries of Alloy City. As players progress through the story they will be able to upgrade the robotic body and unlock new abilities to assist them in fighting their way through increasingly challenging waves of enemies.
Malita – Soul of a Warrior features:
- Fast-paced cyberpunk beat ‘em up action.
- Inspired by the universe of Alita: Battle Angel.
- Play as the cyborg Malita and become a powerful hunter warrior.
- Fight your way through waves of enemies in the main story.
- Upgrade your robotic body and unlock new abilities to become more powerful.
- Developed using a self-made 3D engine called “Project-Atlas”.
“Malita – Soul of a Warrior is our biggest game so far”, states Adrià Ferrer, Lead Programmer of the project. “The big challenge was developing a full 3D engine from scratch in only 3 months… but we made it!”.
