Daniel Craig explains why he feels fortunate to return for No Time to Die

June 4, 2020 by Liam Waddington

While Daniel Craig has publicly declared that No Time to Die will be his fifth and final outing as the iconic British spy James Bond, he has revealed there was one upside to reprising his role one last time.

In an interview with HeyUGuys, Craig discussed how he was fortunate to return because he got to opportunity to visit Jamaica – where author and creator Ian Fleming wrote the novels.

“Being in Jamaica is just exciting on so many levels for me,” Craig said. “I haven’t been here for one. But also this is where [James Bond author Ian] Fleming wrote them so they were created here. There’s always been a connection, a whatever family connection. Somehow he’s always ended up here for some reason or another. A lot of the movies have been shot here.”

“We’re just incredibly fortunate to get a chance to be here and we’re getting looked after so beautiful,” Craig continued. “The sunshine, there’s a beach over there. I’m so happy; I just can’t tell you.”

No Time to Die was originally expected to release this April before being significantly delayed due to the ongoing global health crisis. Unfortunately, recent reports claim Bond 25 could be pushed further back into 2021.

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

No Time To Die stars Daniel Craig (James Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Rory Kinnear (Tanner), Léa Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Ben Whishaw (Q), Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter) and Christoph Waltz (Blofeld), while new additions include Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Billy Magnussen (Velvet Buzzsaw), Dali Benssalah (A Faithful Man) and David Dencik (Top of the Lake).
