Darkseid voice actor opens up about Zack Snyder’s Justice League

May 25, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Argo and Justified actor Ray Porter has confirmed that he provided the voice for the supervillain Darkseid in Justice League for a cameo appearance which was ultimately cut from the theatrical version of the 2017 DC movie. However, with Zack Snyder’s original cut of Justice League now set to make its way to HBO Max, it seems we’ll finally to see the much-hyped appearance of the ruler of Apokolips, and Porter has revealed that he is as excited as fans to hear what his Darkseid voice is going to sound like on screen:

“There’s been a lot of questions on Twitter today, ‘Can you do the voice?’ It’s like no, that’s not going to happen. Let’s wait until 2021. You’ll hear it when I hear it [laughs],” Porter told LightCast. “I went through a few different sort of vocal gymnastic things in kind of trying to figure out the voice. I needed it to be understandable, but it needed to be a voice that was not of this Earth. And that’s what I tried to go for,” states Porter.

“I can’t wait to hear it either, because also, while I did this voice and everybody was really, really nice about it.” he continues. “I know that in post, they probably did stuff to it, and I can’t wait to hear that. Plus, the voice that I did, it wouldn’t be something that I could really project. It’s hard, hard on the vocal cords.”

Expect to see Darkseid make a big splash during his live action debut in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, with rumors suggesting that his appearance will bookend the film.
