David Ayer teases Jared Leto’s Joker from Suicide Squad

April 10, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

After posting the first cast photo earlier in the week, Suicide Squad director David Ayer has shared another photo with his Twitter followers by debuting the first green-haired look at Jared Leto, who was absent from the original cast pic.

Many Batman and Joker fans will guess instantly what the inspiration for the photo is, with Leto paying homage to the cover for Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s The Killing Joke.

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5th 2016, and features a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg, Will Smith (Hancock) as Deadshot, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker, Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller, Scott Eastwood (Fury) as Steve Trevor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Thor: The Dark World) as Killer Croc, Ray Olubowale (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as King Shark and Adam Beach, Jim Parrack and Ike Barinholtz in as-yet unrevealed roles. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise the role of Lex Luthor, while Jay Hernandez (Hostel) has signed on for an unspecified role.
