DC Studios’ Blue Beetle movie poster debuts at CCXP

December 3, 2022 by EJ Moreno

As we enter a new era for DC movies, we are about to see the theatrical debut of a fan-favorite character, Blue Beetle.

Jaime Reyes will become Blue Beetle through the Scarab, and the first look poster teases this ancient alien biotechnology relic.

In the film, we’ll see Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) return home from college and get bestowed with an incredible suit of armor. The upcoming movie will mark the cinematic debut of Blue Beetle, a DC comics character dating back to 1939, with Reyes’ version debuting in 2006.

Reyes became Blue Beetle’s third incarnation and the upcoming feature marks one of DC’s first films with a Latino lead. Check out the poster below, fresh from Brazil’s Comic-Con Experience…

Angel Manuel Soto directs Blue Beetle. The film stars Xolo Maridueña, Adriana Barraza, Damían Alcázar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo, Belissa Escobedo, Harvey Guillén, with Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez.

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.

Blue Beetle lands only in theaters on August 18th, 2023.
