Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ Blue Beetle appeared to be getting caught up in capes of its DC predecessor’s when news emerged that early box-office tracking had the origin story opening with $12-17 million at the domestic box-office. Well, like all good superhero narratives the Angel Manuel Soto-directed movie is now expected to defy the odds and double those estimates with a $30 million debut when it lands in cinemas next week.
According to Deadline, Blue Beetle, which was originally intended as an HBO Max Original, is tracking well with the Latino and Hispanic audiences, while also gaining awareness thanks to hard rotation of the trailer before most prints of bonafide WB’s blockbuster Barbie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
