Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds hasn’t given up hope of a Hugh Jackman Wolverine return

May 6, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Despite Hugh Jackman deciding to call it a day with Logan, and the X-Men franchise’s time at Fox drawing to a close with the impending Disney acquisition, it seems that Ryan Reynolds hasn’t given up hope of convincing Jackman of one final Wolverine appearance alongside his Merc with a Mouth.

“He’s alive and well in my timeline,” said Reynolds in an interview with EW to promote the upcoming Deadpool 2. “There is a Logan running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws, and he is alive and well and ready to go. I would love that. I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there’s no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend. He’s just the best. I already miss him as Logan, so I’m one of those guys that whenever I see him, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We’ll do it together. It’ll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,’ and it’s always just me saying it.”

Assuming we don’t get a secret cameo from Jackman in Deadpool 2, the only other opportunity for a Wolverine appearance alongside Reynolds’ Deadpool may well be the X-Force movie, which is rumoured to go into production later this year ahead of the Disney/Fox deal.

Let’s hope Reynolds manages to convince his pal, otherwise we’ll just have to make do with X-Men Origins: Wolverine…

Marvel’s motormouth mercenary is back! Bigger, better and occasionally more pantless than ever before. When a super soldier arrives on a murderous mission, Deadpool is forced to think about friendship, family and what it really means to be a hero – all while kicking 50 shades of ass. Because, sometimes, to do the right thing you need to fight dirty.

Deadpool 2 sees David Leitch (John Wick) directing a cast that includes returning stars Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al) and Karan Soni (Dopinder) alongside new additions Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) as Cable, Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Bedlam, Lewis Tan (Iron Fist) as Shatterstar, Bill Skarsgard (It) as Zeitgeist, Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) as Russell, Jack Kesy (The Strain) as the film’s villain, and Shioli Kutsuna (The Outsider) and Eddie Marsan (Atomic Blonde) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on May 15th 2018 in the UK and May 18th in North America.
