The Deer God arrives on Nintendo Switch

December 22, 2017 by Andrew Newton

Blowfish Studios and Crescent Moon Games have announced the release of their 3D pixel adventure The Deer God on the Nintendo eShop for the Switch.  The Deer God has seen over 1.5 million downloads on other systems and tells the story of a hunter who is reincarnated as a fawn.

Being a deer in a world dominated by humans isn’t much fun and in The Deer God players will discover the hardships and perils firsthand.  Playing the role of a hunter reincarnated as a fawn players must survive a procedurally generated side scrolling world fraught with a variety of dangers and ancient mysteries whilst also finding a way to become human again.

With every passing day the deer will become older, eventually growing into a full grown buck and if he’s lucky will take a mate and have babies.  Having offspring provides a clever feature of providing extra lives.  The behaviour of players during the game will influence whether they are aligned with good or evil, both paths will grant an advantage although one of these routes will be the opposite of the lesson intended to be taught to the human.

“The Nintendo Switch is fast becoming an indie destination, and we feel The Deer God’s procedurally-generated levels and accessible platforming make the Switch a perfect fit for us,” said Ben Lee, CEO, Blowfish Studios. “We’re pleased people can now take the spiritual lessons of The Deer God with them on their own personal journey.”

The Deer God is available now on the Nintendo eShop.
