Defenders trailer, first look at The Dark Tower, Aquaman begins production and more – Daily News Roundup

May 4, 2017 by Luke Owen

#DEFEND

After a couple of teasers, the first full trailer for Marvel and Netflix’s The Defenders landed online yesterday, which showed off Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist teaming up together. We also got a look at the resurrected Elektra, and the mysterious Alexandra played by Sigourney Weaver. Watch the trailer here.

THOR V HULK: INFINITY WAR

We’ll have to wait until later this year to see Thor take on The Incredible Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok but the two will reunite for once again for Avengers: Infinity War, and it was revealed yesterday that Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo have joined the production. Check out those images here.

ONE SWORN TO PROTECT

Although the film is only four months from release, we finally got the first trailer for the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower yesterday. The fact we’re getting it so close to the film’s release is a worry for fans of the series, as it invokes memories of the troublesome production issues that Fantastic Four had a couple of years ago. Regardless, watch the trailer here.

COVENANT

With a little over a week to go until Alien: Covenant arrives in cinemas, 20th Century Fox has released the first red band clip from Ridley Scott’s hotly-anticipated sci-fi horror entitled ‘Let Me Out’, which features Carmen Ejogo, Benjamin Rigby and Amy Seimetz. Watch the clip here.

TIME TO RAMPAGE

The adaptation of classic arcade game Rampage is currently in production, and following on from last week’s plot details reveal, we’ve got a new full synopsis for the movie. We won’t post it here, but you can read all about it by following this link.

STRANGER THINGS ARE HAPPENING AGAIN

One of the breakout hits of last year was Netflix’s Stranger Things, which gets its second season this Halloween, and according to Glen Matarazzo (Dustin), things are only going to get scarier. “The great thing about this season is you get to see insights into each character on their own,” said Matarazzo. “You’re going to see a lot more into the lives of how the characters are coping with what’s been going on… I think they’re all very emotionally scarred. They feel alone because their best friend [Will] is back and he’s not acting like their best friend anymore. He’s changed.” Read more from that interview here.

KILLER CAST

You want to talk about big names, the new adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express from Kenneth Branagh boasts one of the most impressive casts ever seen. We’ve got Branagh as Hercule Poirot, Johnny Depp as Edward Ratchett, Michelle Pfeiffer as Caroline Hubbard, Judi Dench as Princess Dragomiroff, Leslie Odom Jr. as Doctor Arbuthnot, Daisy Ridley as Mary Debenham, Josh Gad as Hector MacQueen, Penelope Cruz as Pilar Estravados, Olivia Colman as Hildegarde Schmidt, Derek Jacobi as Masterman, Willem Dafoe as Gerhard Hardman and more – and you can check out the cast photos right here.

AQUAMAN

The DC Extended Universe certainly hasn’t got off to the best of starts in many minds (especially with the rumours of Wonder Woman woes and The Flash still without a director), but there was some good news yesterday as James Wan announced production on Aquaman is underway. The pictured location is from a set in Australia where it seems some scenes centered on a submarine are being shot first. Read more here.

WHAT NEXT FOR GOTG?

After announcing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 a couple of weeks ago, director James Gunn has revealed via Twitter that the film will take place after both Avengers: Infinity War and the untitled Avengers 4. Read more here.
