Director Jeff Nichols exits A Quiet Place spinoff

October 28, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Back in November 2020, Paramount Pictures announced that A Quiet Place spinoff movie was currently in early development from Take Shelter and Midnight Special writer-director Jeff Nichols.

However, according to a recent report from Deadline, Nichols has amicably parted ways with the project in favour of working on another untitled science-fiction project from Paramount. There is also no word on whether the studio will stick with Nichols’ script or if a new writer will board the project as well.

Despite Nichols departing the third instalment in the horror franchise, the untitled spinoff will still be the first film in the series to be directed by someone other than creator John Krasinski with the studio currently searching for a replacement director.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the film has previously been described as the next instalment which will broaden the post-apocalyptic world introduced in the first two movies. However, the untitled spinoff will not serve as a sequel to A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II but is based on an idea from John Krasinski.
