DONTNOD announces release of bloodthirsty RPG Vampyr

June 6, 2018 by Andrew Newton

After a bit of a delay DONTNOD Entertainment and Focus Home Interactive have announced the release of their eagerly anticipated narrative driven action RPG, Vampyr, on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.  Unlike other games including vampires,  Vampyr gives gamers the choice of who to feed on and who to help.  Check out the game’s launch trailer below…

In Vampyr players are taken to London shortly after the Great War to take the role of Doctor Reid, a doctor who served his country during the war and who has now been cursed to spend the rest of his days as a vampire.  As Dr Reid, players will explore a dark, atmospheric London where they will be able to choose whether to kill and feed or follow the Hippocratic Oath and save the people in need of help as a terrible flu ravages the city.  All the citizens of London form an interconnected social web and the fate of one will have an impact on the others.  Choose the fate of those you help carefully as every decision made may attract the attention of the vampire hunters, undead Skals and other unholy creatures that stalk London’s dark streets.

Vampyr’s London is divided into four main districts with each having a health status linked with the number of living, dead and sick citizens.  By making carefully considered decisions of who to feed on and who to help this balance can be maintained, however, should the health status drop too low the district will be lost to supernatural creatures.  Only the actions of Dr Reid can save or doom London.
