At this year’s Gamescom, Funcom released a new gameplay reveal trailer for their upcoming Open World Survival MMO Dune: Awakening, delivering 5 minutes of a character’s rise from scavenging and survival to hunting down Spice with an entire guild. They also revealed the exciting news that Dune: Awakening will release on PC in early 2025 (and later for consoles). Watch the new gameplay trailer below….
Dune: Awakening will take players to the most dangerous planet in the Dune universe, not only will they have to survive the scorching hot desert and the gargantuan sandworms but they will also need to develop their influence over the planet through combat, construct huge bases and control the Spice flow.
Funcom has worked closely with both the Herbert Estate and Legendary Entertainment to create an alternate Dune universe where Paul Atreides was never born, giving players a chance to create their own future for Arrakis.
Those who venture to Arrakis in early 2025 will have the opportunity to:
- Survive the planet’s scorching desert and giant sandworms by learning the ways of the Fremen.
- Create and upgrade bases, craft vehicles, develop trade and fight to control the planet.
- Develop the character by following the path of the Mentat, Trooper, Planetologist, Swordmaster or Bene Gesserit.
- Control the flow of Spice and wage war to stay in power.
- Join a guild and ally with House Harkonnen or Atreides.

Dune: Awakening will arrive on PC in early 2025 and on Xbox Series X|S and Playstation 5 at a later date.
