Early 2000’s classic Ninja Gaiden 2 Black remastered and rereleased

January 25, 2025 by Andrew Newton

KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Team NINJA’s Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is now available on Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5 and PC.  Originally released back in 2008, this highly acclaimed title has been remastered and is now available for a new generation of gamers to enjoy the breathtaking and frenetic ninja action.  Watch the trailer below to see the action in store…

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black places gamers in the role of Ryu Hayabusa, a deadly ninja who has inherited the legendary Dragon Sword, as he travels around the world on an epic battle against formidable enemies.  While guiding Ryu, players will experience adrenaline-fuelled ninja battles using a range of techniques and weapons, including Japanese swords, shuriken, kusarigama and tonfa.

This remaster also features a number of extra elements that originate from the spin-off titles released after the original title, most notably the ability to control three additional characters; Momiji, Ayane and Rachel.  Players may also notice the addition of ‘Hero Play Style’, a mode for beginners that provides automatic support during intense moments.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black features a wealth of graphical updates that makes the game look absolutely stunning.  Everything from character visuals to environmental backgrounds have been refined and improved by Unreal Engine 5, and stages, characters, effects and lighting have all been fully remastered to provide players with a fully immersive experience into the sombre world of the ninja.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black with all its gore and ninja battles is available to purchase now. Team NINJA have also announced that the long awaited Ninja Gaiden 2 4 is currently in development and will release later this year.
