It has been a year since we last heard about Eli Roth’s TV series based upon his Hostel franchise, but we’ve now received a major update as Variety reports it has landed on NBC’s streaming service Peacock.
Released in 2006, Hostel followed a group of young American tourists travelling through Europe. After being recommended a hostel by a pair of other tourists, their stay turns bloody as the hostel is secretly a place for the wealthy to torture, mutilate and kill foreign visitors. The film was followed by two sequels in 2007 and 2011.
Paul Giamatti was announced to star in the Hostel series last year with Roth attached to write, direct and executive produce. Original producers Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss are also onboard to return for the TV adaptation.
Exact plot details are unknown, but the series will likely follow more tourists being sent to a hostel for a gruesome and fatal stay. Given the series’ track record of killing many of its characters, it may well turn out Hostel becomes an anthology series of different groups and their collective experiences at the murderous hostels.
