Empyrion – Galactic Survival reaches Alpha 7.0

October 22, 2017 by Andrew Newton

Alpha 7 has now been released for Empyrion – Galactic Survival and brings changes to the game’s planet creation tech, building tools, template rebalancing and lots more.  Check out the latest Alpha in the new video from developers Eleon Game Studios below…

Plenty of changes to planetary terrain have been made in this Alpha with terrain height being extended to 500m and the addition of simple Texture Editor to easily change textures on a heightmap planet.  The main thing of note in this area is the addition of more realistic handmade terrains.

Alpha 7 introduces lots of additions to building tools including:

  • Added selection box as building tools (N window): Copy, Paste, Cut, Delete whole areas
  • Added possibility to replace textures and colors on whole structures.
  • Added possibility to color and texture large areas at once instead of block-by-block
  • Added possibility to save and display Blueprint parts
  • Added possibility to rotate block textures
  • Separated building and debug tools in N window
  • Symmetry plane can now positioned on a half block basis
  • Changed “Build Settings” window to toggle mode (instead of holding down “N” to keep open)
  • Activated Undo/Redo also for Coloring/Texturing

Eleon Game Studios felt that players were able to gain too many things to build straight from the off which resulted in less motivation to explore beyond their first planet so from Alpha 7 there is more reason to venture into space if you want to build more.  Other changes to the game start include short distance warp drive for small vessels, ability to make biofuel from rotten food and metal plates being the basic material for anything metal.

Those players who like their weapons will find plenty of changes with the range of all weapons having been reduced or equalised, plasma and laser weaponry ignore atmospheric density, the addition to bullet spread for everything but lasers and the reduction to the damage of long-range weapons.  There is some good news for those players preferring shotguns; these weapons will be more devastating at close range but not as much at their max distance however there is no longer any sniper zoom.

There are plenty of changes that come with Alpha 7, visit here for the full change notes.
