During the recent Convergence Showcase, Secret Mode announced that their co-op horror based on Backrooms lore, Escape the Backrooms, will leave early access and launch into 1.0 on 23rd October. The Backrooms are a surreal place, seemingly never-ending, and it is up to players to navigate them.
Gather up to three friends and jump into the surreal realm of Escape the Backrooms this October. Explore the expansive Backrooms area, avoid deadly creatures that will hunt you down, and seek out the exit to the real world.
Players will work together to solve puzzles as they explore the near-endless liminal spaces, from impossible hotels to creepily calm pools. With the 1.0 launch, there are four new levels to explore, and over 50 different environments to creep through. Existing levels have also been tweaked to encourage revisits. Proximity voice chat will help players keep in touch with each other, but the monsters can also hear, so don’t talk too loud.
With this new launch, players will be able to uncover the origins of the Bacteria in Overgrowth, get up close with Kitty in Level 974, and take some time out in the Glassrooms. Possibly the safest place in the surreal realm. Other new features include a newly added mission screen will make return trips easier, an improvement in visuals, and alternative endings for those brave enough to explore and uncover all the secrets the game has to offer.
Escape the Backrooms version 1.0 will launch on Steam on 23rd October and is available in Early Access now.
