Tai Freligh interviews Paige Mobley…
Paige Mobley is best known as the host of the Emmy-award winning Netflix series Instant Dream Home where a team of renovators completes a full home makeover for a deserving family in just 12 hours. Now, she is thrilled to announce her newest role playing Fleurette (the ex-girlfriend to Lex Luther) in James Gunn’s highly anticipated film Superman, which premiered in theatres July 11, 2025. Flickering Myth’s Tai Freligh chatted with her about her character in the new Superman film, her television and film career, and her production company…
Playing Fleurette, the ex-girlfriend of Lex Luthor, offers a unique perspective on one of DC’s most iconic villains. How did you approach developing a character who has a personal history with someone so notorious, and what nuances did you hope to bring to Fleurette’s portrayal that might surprise fans?
I was really interested in the emotional impact that comes from being close to someone like Lex. Fleurette isn’t a villain (yet? Who knows!) but she’s been in the orbit of one—and that leaves a mark. I tried my best to show her behavior in active survival mode.
With James Gunn’s reputation for creating character-driven narratives and giving actors room to make roles their own, how collaborative was the process of shaping Fleurette’s expanded role? Were there specific ideas or characteristics you brought to the table that were incorporated into the final script?
James is incredibly collaborative—he gives direction and lets you have fun. My audition played a huge role in my process. I was given very little information on the details on Fleurette, so I created scenarios that ended up influencing a lot of my final performance.
You’ve successfully transitioned from a reality TV personality on America’s Next Top Model to an Emmy-winning host and now a burgeoning film actress. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone trying to pivot their career within the entertainment industry, especially when they’re known for one particular skill or role?
Don’t let someone else’s perception of you define your ceiling. You have to be your own advocate, even when the path isn’t linear. If you’re pivoting, it’s okay! I feared being a multi-hyphenate for a long time and it didn’t serve me. If you have talent, credibility and are a hard worker, what is stopping you from taking as many opportunities as possible?
From early roles in Gossip Girl to being a contestant on America’s Next Top Model, and now hosting an Emmy-winning series and starring in major films, you’ve really carved a multi-faceted path in entertainment. How have these varied experiences, particularly the reality TV aspect, uniquely prepared you for the demands and opportunities of scripted film and television roles?
Reality TV taught me a lot about adaptability, and showing up even when things feel unpredictable. Hosting sharpened my ability to lead a room with authenticity. And acting has brought me back to my roots as a performer. All of those experiences shaped my toolkit. They’ve helped me stay grounded on set, and how to hold my own across different formats.
You’re the founder of Longmeadow Productions, a film and television production company. How does your experience as an actress and host influence the types of projects you aim to develop and produce, especially concerning your stated goal of championing female storytelling?
Being in front of the camera has given me a deep appreciation for how powerful it is when women are portrayed with depth and agency. At Longmeadow, I want to create space for new voices, new formats, and stories that feel both entertaining and emotionally true. I want every story to feel familiar.
With your unique background of growing up in roughly 20 different homes, how do you feel your personal history most profoundly influences the emotional impact and ‘finishing touch’ you bring to the families on Instant Dream Home?
Moving so often gave me a strong emotional understanding of what “home” really means. On Instant Dream Home, I never take for granted how life-changing it can be for a family to walk into a space that finally feels like theirs. The finishing touches—the personal details—are everything. That’s where design comes to life!
What’s next for you?
More storytelling! I’m continuing to develop original projects through Longmeadow, and I’d love to take on a rom-com next. In my personal life… getting married! So there’s a lot of joy in the mix, and I’m excited!
