Frank Oz believes the backlash towards Star Wars: The Last Jedi was “horse crap”

March 14, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Yoda voice actor and performer Frank Oz thinks that the backlash Star Wars: The Last Jedi received from some quarters was “horse crap”.

The negative reactions by some corners towards Star Wars: The Last Jedi is well documented at this point, with a very vocal group expressing their dislike for the film ever since it’s release. In the build-up to Episode IX, however, Yoda performer Frank Oz has rejected the backlash.

Frank Oz has voiced Yoda since The Empire Strikes Back and most recently performed the character in The Last Jedi. Speaking at South by Southwest (via IndieWire), Oz said: “I love [The Last Jedi]. All the people who don’t like this Jedi thing is just horse crap. It’s about expectations. The movie didn’t fill their expectations. But as filmmakers, we’re not here to fulfill people’s expectations.”

This backs up support that Oz has voiced for The Last Jedi in the past so it seems that his opinion on the matter hasn’t changed. What do you think? Is The Last Jedi backlash just a question of expectations? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
