Free DLC brings two new characters to Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons

May 6, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Maximum Entertainment and Secret Base have released a new free DLC for Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons that brings two new playable characters to the game’s ever-expanding roster.  This new DLC is the first of several character updates arriving this year bringing a total of six new fighters to the game by the end of the year. Watch the new trailer below to see these new characters in action.

The new characters joining Billy and Jimmy Lee in cleaning up the criminal gangs of New York City are Jeff and Abore. Both of which bring their own unique talents to the mean streets.

Jeff was a rival of the Lee brothers when they were children and trained alongside them in the art of Sōsetsuken. However, his jealousy of the brother’s skills drove him away to the streets where he merged Karate with Sōsetsuken to create his own dangerous, unpredictable fighting style.

Abore is a massive hulk of a man and an ex-soldier. With his military training and stoic demeanor, he brings raw power and unwavering calm to the streets. Through his mix of incredible strength, high resilience and crushing blows, many have been left wondering if he is more than just a human.

This free DLC is available for Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons now on Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch and PC.
