Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake finds its young Jason Voorhees

July 18, 2025 by Ricky Church

Peacock’s upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake has found its young Jason Voorhees. Joining Linda Cardellini in the cast is Callum Vinson (Chucky) as the young version of the horror icon, per Deadline.

Not much detail is known around the series’ plot, but it will focus on Jason Voorhees’ youth and the events leading up to his ‘death’ and his mother’s initial killing spree in the original Friday the 13th, setting the stage for Jason to become the franchise’s iconic hockey mask-wearing killer.

Linda Cardellini will play the franchise’s original killer Pamela Voorhees, who has been described as “a mother who gave up a singing career to raise a special needs child and takes a dark turn when she loses her son.”

Crystal Lake is the where most of the Friday the 13th films take place, specifically its summer camp Camp Crystal Lake where Pamela blamed counsellors for Jason’s supposed death and killed many of them for vengeance.

The series is created, written, showrun and executive produced by Brad Caleb Kane. Also starring in the prequel are William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch and Phoenix Parnevik.

Crystal Lake is being produced by Peacock and A24 for a 2026 premiere.
