G.I. Joe and Cobra come to World of Tanks

March 15, 2021 by Andrew Newton

The popular toy range of G.I. Joe and the villainous Cobra has made its way to World of Tanks on PC and for those nostalgic for the 80s (not me however as I knew G.I. Joe by their British name of Action Force and Action Man), they even come with their own special style tanks.  Childhood japery aside, this week sees the start of the new Battle Pass for season 4 and the Steel Hunter event 2021.  See more in the trailers below…

G.I. Joe and Cobra (and in the UK Action Man) were popular toys on any child’s present list though some of the larger items, like vehicles, were often a bit pricey. However, thanks to World of Tanks tank commanders can get their hands on a couple of extra special 3D style tanks.  For the G.I. Joe team there’s the TS-5 and for Cobra it’s the T-54 first prototype.  Both tanks come in a fantastic plastic toy style with all the decals you would expect to see on G.I. Joe vehicles.

As well as the tanks, players can earn unique emblems and inscriptions plus Personal Reserves by pledging allegiance to one of the sides.  Signing up to the good guys will earn the famous G.I. JOE logo as an inscription for their vehicles while dedicating service to Cobra will get their related emblems.

Starting today is the new Season 4 Battle Pass.  This new season will run until 15th June and consist of 3 chapters, each with 50 stages, which will reward players with a collectable 3D style for the Object 705A, the T110E3 and the 121 medium tank.  This isn’t the only difference to previous seasons as Battle Pass points can be earned in Random Battles, Ranked Battles and Steel Hunter, as well as from Daily Missions.

Steel Hunter 2021 also starts today and will run until 21st March and also breaks tradition by not having its own progression. Instead, commanders will earn Battle Pass points based on the battle results and for completion of Steel Hunter battle missions.

Until next time, remember Duke’s famous words, “Surrender, my grandmother!”
