Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin to kill off more fan favourites

August 22, 2014 by Gary Collinson

As Cersei Lannister once said, when you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. And as fans of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire saga and the subsequent Game of Thrones television series will know, there’s a much greater chance of you dying.

We’ve already seen numerous characters from the epic fantasy killed off, usually in rather shocking fashion, and as Martin continues to chip away at The Winds of Winter, the author has revealed that death is looming over a number of fan favourites:

“I have a large number of important characters who I switch between to tell the entirety of the story, and that limits who I can kill. [However] the viewpoint characters are meeting up with each other and being in the same point at the same time, which gives me a lot more flexibility for killing people.”

Game of Thrones returns to HBO for its fifth season in the Spring, while The Winds of Winter is set for release… well, your guess is as good as mine.
