Gemma Arterton and Tim Roth to star in Christopher Nolan-adapted The Keys to the Street

September 8, 2013 by admin

It’s been announced at the Toronto International Film Festival that Gemma Arterton (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Runner Runner) and Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction, Grace of Monaco) are to star in the London-set crime thriller The Keys to the Street, which has been adapted by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar) and Michael Stokes (Exit Speed, The Beacon) from the 1996 Ruth Rendell novel of the same name.

According to Variety, The Keys to the Street “is set in London’s exclusive Regent’s Park area, where a woman (Arterton) accepts a house-sitting assignment in order to escape her violent and disturbed ex-boyfriend Alastair (Roth). As a series of murders occur in the neighborhood, she starts an affair with another man, played by Max Irons (The White Queen, The Host)”.

Filming on The Keys to the Street is set to begin in the UK early next year, with Julius Sevcik (Restart, Normal the Dusseldorf Ripper) handling directing duties. The film adaptation has been in development for several years, with Christopher Nolan originally planning to direct before he signed on to reboot the Batman franchise with Batman Begins.
