Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman action thriller Hunter Killer gets a release date

March 24, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Having been part of Relativity Media’s slate before its collapse, the Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman action thriller Hunter Killer has now secured a U.S. release thanks to Summit Entertainment, which will open the movie this October.

Directed by Donovan Marsh and based upon Don Keith and George Wallace’s novel Firing Point, the film sees Butler as Joe Glass, the untested captain of a U.S. submarine, who teams up with Navy SEALS to rescue the Russian president after he is kidnapped by a rogue general.

Joining Butler and Oldman in the cast are Common (Suicide Squad), Zane Holtz (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), Toby Stephens (Black Sails), Linda Cardellini (Bloodline), Caroline Goodall (The Dressmaker), David Gyasi (Interstellar) and the late Michael Nyqvist (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Hunter Killer will open on October 26th, the same day as Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams Overlord, which is rumoured to be the fourth Cloverfield film.
