Get a peek at The Apocalypse with devlog for low-poly zombie survival game

July 8, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer Team Apocalypse has released the first devlog for The Apocalypse, their upcoming sandbox survival game set in a bleak, zombie-ridden world. With a refreshing lo-fi, low-poly look, this upcoming game blends classic survival elements like crafting, combat, scavenging and base-building. Watch this new devlog below…

The Apocalypse will include all the fan-favourite features of a zombie survival game – there’s base-building, growing crops, player options for solo or PvP, and of course combat, but it’s all done with a little twist – it’s being designed for players who don’t have hours to grind every day.

“We love survival games, but they’ve got a bit too grindy,” says the lead developer. “We want something that still feels deep and open, but also lets you jump in and have fun—even if you’ve only got an hour to play.”

The devlog showcases several features already in development, including:

  • Core survival systems like hunger, thirst and crafting.
  • Melee and ranged combat against a smart (and scary) zombie AI.
  • An open world with forests, ruins and a working day-night cycle.
  • PvE and PvP server options, with raids and territory control.
  • Vehicles, fuel mechanics and guild management.

The game has now entered full production, with a focus on multiplayer survival. A Closed Alpha is set for later this year and those interested in signing up can do so here.
