Glen Powell stretching his comedic muscles in new Judd Apatow feature

April 21, 2025 by EJ Moreno

Are you tired of Glen Powell dominating the Hollywood landscape? Let’s add one more project to his lengthy to-do list, but this one could be one of the most intriguing.

THR confirms that Powell will star in a new film from director Judd Apatow. The still-untitled project is being fast-tracked at Universal Pictures with the script hailing from both filmmakers. Apatow produces for Apatow Productions through its long-standing deal with Universal Pictures. Powell and Dan Cohen produce for Barnstorm under their recent first-look deal with the studio.

The film is described as a comedy that explores the world of country music, starring Glen Powell as a country western star in free fall.

Apatow is currently in production on a two-part HBO Documentary Films project about Mel Brooks, which he’s co-directing with Michael Bonfiglio. For those unfamiliar with the filmmaker, Judd Apatow is best known for his genre staples, such as Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Hollywood is going head over heels for Glen Powell right now as well, with the actor coming off Universal’s Twisters, Richard Linklater’s Netflix film Hit Man, and a powerhouse rom-com, Anyone But You. He’ll star in the big screen remake of The Running Man for Paramount this fall. He’ll also lead the sports comedy series Chad Powers for Hulu and recently wrapped production on A24’s revenge thriller Huntington.

Stay tuned for more news on this Apatow and Powell comedy.
