Godzilla: King of the Monsters director announces that the movie is complete

November 17, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

It may still have some six months to go until its release, but director Michael Dougherty (Krampus) has taken to Twitter to announce that next year’s MonsterVerse sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters is fully completed and in the can.

It is done. With love and gratitude to the thousands of talented people all around the world who helped make this lifelong dream a reality. In Godzilla we trust. @GodzillaMovie pic.twitter.com/JnPoqFoXHY

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will see the legendary kaiju battling three of his most iconic foes in Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah. It is a sequel to 2014’s Godzilla, and the third instalment in Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse franchise after that and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. The two iconic movie monsters will then butt heads in 2020 with the epic showdown Godzilla vs. Kong, which just started production this week under director Adam Wingard (The Guest, Blair Witch).
