Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham writing Pacific Rim 2

October 16, 2013 by admin

Pacific Rim may not have been the modern monster classic we all hoped for but although it carried a huge budget, it made well over $400 million at the box office, opening the door for a possible sequel. Well, Guillermo del Toro may be involved in a whole variety of projects but he has announced to IGN that along with his co-writer Travis Beacham, Pacific Rim 2 is currently being written.

There may be no green light for the film just yet but I would welcome the chance to watch more giant robots fighting giant kaijus. This announcement comes at exactly the right time with Pacific Rim being released on Blu-ray in the states yesterday and its sales within the home market certainly won’t harm the chances of a follow-up.

Del Toro is busy prepping his old-fashioned ghost film Crimson Pea, as well as shooting the FX series The Strain at this present moment.

Pacific Rim is released on Blu-ray in the UK on November 11th. Pre-order it here.
