Guillermo del Toro wants Maisie Williams for Pacific Rim 2

October 5, 2015 by admin

The movie may currently be on hold (but not dead, depending on who you ask), but that hasn’t stopped Guillermo del Toro throwing out casting plans for Pacific Rim 2. Over the weekend, the director said that he met with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and would easily cast her in the movie should it ever get made.

Check out his tweet below:

Had lunch with Maisie Williams yesterday. Remarkable. Dammit- if PR2 happens, that girl is getting a Jaeger.

— Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) October 3, 2015

Now, Pacific Rim 2 has been on a rollercoaster as of late. The movie was set for a 2017 release, and then rumours were abound that it would be part of a shared kaiju universe with Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla. The rumours were that Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla would eventually lead to Pacific Rim 3, in which King Kong and The King of the Monsters would throw down with the Jaegers. However, Pacific Rim 2 is now on “indefinite hold”, putting those plans to rest.

That is, unless del Toro can get the movie back off the ground again…
