Hans Zimmer distancing himself from Batman vs. Superman return

October 17, 2013 by admin

It looks like Hans Zimmer may not be returning to the Man of Steel sequel, with the composer distancing himself from scoring Batman vs. Superman during an interview with Vulture this week. Zimmer has said he feels burned out by sequels after Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, an experience he says “didn’t really enjoy”, and that he doesn’t want to bring the same ideas that he brilliantly applied to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy because “it just wouldn’t feel right.”

“Honestly, I’m just sort of grappling with that right now. Quite seriously, the thought right now is that no, I don’t want to go and take what I did with Chris and just plonk it into another movie. There isn’t one good reason to do it, and there are so many good reasons not to do it. I really enjoyed working with Zack Snyder, so part of it would be a personal decision. At the same time, I wouldn’t want to put the ideas I used in the Chris Nolan Batman movies into a Superman movie. It just wouldn’t feel right.”

However, Zimmer has stated that he’s yet to be officially approached, and hasn’t fully ruled himself out of contention: “Zack hasn’t talked to me about it, so I don’t have to worry about it! I’ll worry about it when I have to worry about it, and then, if I’m lucky, I’ll have an idea. If I have an idea, I can do something with that, but if I don’t have an idea, then my good idea is going to be, ‘Get somebody else.'”

The Man of Steel sequel is being written by David S. Goyer with Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), and Diane Lane (Martha Kent reprising their roles alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman.
