Harrison Ford has “no f***ing idea” if Han was a Force Ghost in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

February 19, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Despite his hands at the death of Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford made a surprise return to the galaxy far, far away this past December as Han Solo appeared to his son to set Ben Solo (Adam Driver) off on his path to redemption.

Han’s cameo marked the first time we’ve seen a non-Force sensitive character returning from the afterlife in the saga, and there’s been some speculation among fans as to whether Han was simply a figment of Kylo Ren’s imagination, or if the smuggler had picked up a trick or two from his time with Luke and somehow managed to learn the secrets to becoming a Force Ghost.

Well, during an interview with USA Today, Harrison Ford did little to clear up matters, with the legendary actor revealing that he doesn’t know, doesn’t care, and hasn’t got a clue what a Force Ghost is anyway:

“A Force ghost? I don’t know what a Force Ghost is. Don’t tell anyone. I’m not talking loud enough for your recorder. I have no fucking idea what a Force Ghost is. And I don’t care.”

Ford did go on to discuss why he agreed to reprise the role despite his disinterest in the character, adding that: “If JJ asked you do something, you’d probably do it too. He’s a very persuasive guy. It was a useful addition to the story and the continuing development of Adam Driver’s character. And the chance to do another scene with Adam was great.”

Regarding the Force Ghost issue, the lack of a blue hue (as well any Jedi training and Force sensitivity) pretty much answers that question, but is Han just a figment of Kylo’s imagination, or do you think there’s more to it than that? Let us know in the comments, or on our social channels…

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
