Harrison Ford “would be very happy” to return for Blade Runner sequel

October 8, 2013 by admin

We’re still waiting on word from Harrison Ford about whether he’s open to reprising the role of Han Solo for Star Wars: Episode VII, but the space pirate isn’t the only character from Ford’s back catalogue who could potentially return to the screen some thirty-odd years after his last appearance.

Since it was announced in 2011 that director Ridley Scott and producer Andrew Kosgrove were developing a follow-up to Scott’s sci-fi classic Blade Runner, it’s been simultaneously reported that Ford is in line for a return as replicant hunter / replicant Rick Deckard, and that the character is absent from the sequel.

Well, Ford has now chimed in on the subject, confirming to IGN that he has indeed spoken to Scott about the prospect of a return: “Yeah, we’ve been chatting about it… I truly admire Ridley as a man and as a director, and I would be very happy to engage again with him in the further telling of this story.”

Whether Ford does sign on to the Blade Runner sequel or not, it could be some time before the project becomes a reality, with Scott currently occupied with the Biblical epic Exodus, which is due for release on December 12th, 2014.
