Variety is reporting that HBO has temporarily shut down production on the upcoming small screen adaptation of Westworld to allow executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy to complete the final four scripts.
“As we head into the final phase of production on Westworld, we’ve made the decision to take a brief hiatus in order to get ahead of the writing,” reads a statement from HBO.

Originally, the plan was to wrap filming in November, but the production is now on a two month hiatus and will resume filming in March. Despite the setback, HBO is still hopeful that the series will premiere this year.
Inspired by the 1973 movie Westworld from Michael Crichton, the series features a cast that includes Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Jimmi Simpson, Clifton Collins, Jr., Simon Quarterman and Angela Sarafyan.
