I Know What You Did Last Summer series premiering in October

July 24, 2021 by EJ Moreno

The hook hand and rain slicker will make their return to the horror world this Halloween!

In the mid-90s, teen slashers were still all the rage, and a fan-favorite made its debut in 1997. I Know What You Did Last Summer hit cinemas and became another in the long line of teen-focused horror entries.

Be prepared for its return, as we now have a date for the reboot series. During a San Diego Comic-Con@Home panel, Amazon Studios revealed that I Know What You Did Last Summer will debut this October.

Similar to the original film, the plot synopsis describes a story of mystery and terror – “In a town full of secrets, a group of teenagers is stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night.”

Showrunner Sara Goodman teased that it will pay respects to the original film but remain its own thing…and quoted Saw when teasing if there’s any gore.

“There will be blood … Also, I’ve put little Easter eggs throughout the season for those die-hard fans,” Goodman shared during the panel. “You absolutely do not have to have seen the movie or anything else to be a fan of the show. We have eight episodes to explore these characters who are not just running from a stalker, they are also having relationships and having issues with their families, and they are dealing with their f-king lives. There’s more than just the mystery of who’s after them. It’s very much a mystery of who they really are.”

And to help keep the viewers on their toes, the showrunner also says the show’s structure will add to the suspense. “Every episode has a different point of view of what happened that night, before the accident. [It] will make it much harder to figure out who’s after them.”

Cast members for I Know What You Did Last Summer include Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom, and Bill Heck. Sonya Balmores and Spencer Sutherland will also appear in recurring roles.
