Ice Cube battles an alien invasion on a single computer screen in War of the Worlds trailer

July 25, 2025 by Matt Rodgers

Universal and Amazon MGM Studios has released the trailer for the latest adaptation of H.G. Wells classic science-fiction War of the Worlds.

Produced by Patrick Aiello (As Above, So Below) and Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch), and directed by music video alum Rich Lee, this iteration transfers the action onto a single computer screen operated by Ice Cube’s Homeland Security analyst.

Despite this single-location approach War of the Worlds features an extensive cast that includes Eva Longoria, Clark Gregg, Andrea Savage, Henry Hunter Hall, Iman Benson, Devon Bostick and Michael O’Neill. Check out the trailer below…

“The modern-day adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic novel follows Will Radford (Ice Cube), a top cyber-security analyst for Homeland Security, who spends his days tracking potential threats to national security through a mass surveillance program, until an attack by an unknown entity leads him to question whether the government is hiding something from him … and the rest of the world.”

War of the Worlds streams on Prime Video from July 30th.
