Idris Elba has some harsh words about Thor: The Dark World

November 14, 2014 by Luke Owen

It was a movie that split opinions upon its release and is widely considered to be the “low point” of Marvel’s Phase Two, but Thor: The Dark World did have its fair share of fans (read our reviews here and here). But apperantly one person who was not a fan (to a degree) was Heimdall himself, Idris Elba.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Elba talked about the reshots for Thor: The Dark World and how they compared to low-key drama Mandela, “I’m actually falling down from a spaceship, so they had to put me in [a] harness in this green-screen studio,” the actor said. “And in between takes I was there, fake hair stuck on to my head with glue, this f***ing helmet, while they reset. And I’m thinking: ’24 hours ago, I was Mandela’. When I walked into the set the extras called me Madiba. I was lterally walking in the man’s boots. [Within] six months, the crew, we were all so in love with this film we had made. I was him. I was Mandela, practically. Then there I was, in this stupid harness with this wig and this sword and these contact lenses. It ripped my heart out.”

What do you make of Idris Elba’s thoughts on Thor: The Dark World? He couldn’t have hated it too much as he’ll be back for Thor: Ragnarok as well as Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War.
