Illfonic announces Halloween asymmetric stealth horror video game

August 21, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Having tackled Friday the 13th and Killer Klowns from Outer Space, IllFonic has announced its next asymmetric stealth horror game Halloween, based on the iconic 1978 film. With single and multiplayer modes, players will be able to jump into the terrifying world of John Carpenter’s genre-defining film for a true stealth horror experience. Watch the new announcement trailer below for spot of classic 80’s horror…

In this asymmetric horror, players will get the opportunity to wear Michael Myers’ iconic mask and hunt down and kill the citizens of Haddonfield one by one, or take on the role of one of the civilians and save the townsfolk before Myers’ plan succeeds. The eerie atmosphere of Haddonfield has been perfectly recreated, and the musical score, inspired by the film, will bring a chilling gaming experience to satisfy any fan.

When playing as the civilians, stick to the shadows, seek out Haddonfield residents to warn them that Michael is loose, and find a way to contact the authorities for help. But as Michael Myers, cut the phone lines to prevent the police from turning up, and give the civilians a reason to fear the dark.

There will be multiple maps to hunt or be hunted over, and players will be able to play solo in the offline story mode against bots, or against others in online multiplayer. Whichever mode is played, the game will reward players for using stealth , strategy, and skill.

“Working with Compass International Pictures and Further Front has been a dream,” said Charles Brungardt, CEO and Co-Founder of IllFonic. “As rights holders of the film and producers on the game, they’ve shared incredible insights to help us stay true to the soul of the 1978 film. Their tremendous passion for Michael Myers has pushed us to craft something that fans of the franchise will truly appreciate.”

“We are very excited to have partnered up with the great team at IllFonic to finally bring the definitive digital version of Halloween and Michael Myers to video game fans everywhere,” added Malek Akkad, President of Compass International Pictures, Inc.

“Gun Interactive is proud of our friends at IllFonic on their newest project Halloween.,” reads a statement from Gun. “As longtime peers within the world of horror, we are excited to lend a hand to their team as needed to see their vision come to light. Seeing them pour all their efforts into honoring an IP near and dear to so many horror fans, we’re happy to help ensure players get to experience the world of Halloween that they’ve built. We can’t wait to see folks in Haddonfield.”

Halloween will unleash Michael Myers onto Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and Epic Game Stores in 2026.
