Just yesterday we heard that Matthew McConaughey, who played strip club owner “Dallas” in Steven Soderbergh’s 2012 film Magic Mike, would not be back for the 2015 sequel, Magic Mike XXL. Now, according to Deadline, Warner Brothers have found a new strip club owner for the film: Gotham actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
Smith is reportedly circling the role of a strip club owner, which was originally supposed to be played by a male actor. It may just be coincidence that her and McConaughey’s roles are similar… but the fact that the announcements come a day apart is interesting.
Directed by Gregory Jacobs, Magic Mike XXL stars returning players Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer (White Collar), Alex Pettyfer (Endless Love) and Joe Manganiello (True Blood). The film is slated to pole dance its way into theaters on July 3, 2015.
